Top NDTV Editor Explains Working of TV Newsroom
The eighth NDTV workshop was conducted by Ms Gauri Gupta, Executive Editor, Assignments of NDTV 24/7, on February 23, 2017. This was yet another hands on workshop conducted by NDTV editors. During the workshop, Ms Gauri shared her experience of working on News Desk, Input Desk, Output and Assignment Desk.
The workshop was divided into two clear sessions. In the morning session, she gave the students an insight into how a television newsroom works. She described in detail the Newsroom Hierarchy and the role of different desks and departments. She also explained the newsroom workflow when a news bulletin is being aired.
The afternoon session was more interactive, and hands on. The students were divided into different news desks, and given mock stories to report. It was a very exciting and interactive session, as Ms Gauri critiqued the student efforts.
