Program Description

The study of Psychology is an academic discipline that involves the scientific study of mental functions and behavior. The B.A. Hons, an undergraduate program at GD Goenka is designed to impart the knowledge of various domains of psychology invigorating and apprising the learners of theoretical constructs and practical applicability of the subject. It takes a holistic approach to ensure the students have a deep understanding of the core fundamentals and are able to absorb and apply various concepts metamorphosing things learned to reflect leading-edge in their preferred and chosen domains

Programme Outcomes

Students of all undergraduate Bachelor of Psychology degree programme at the time of graduation will have-

PO1. Understand the evolution of Psychology as a scientific discipline

PO2. Apply the fundamentals of Psychology to different fields

PO3. Develop an understanding of the application of Psychology throughout the lifespan

PO4. Identify clinical and therapeutic applications of Psychology

PO5. Developing and understanding of Socio-Cultural context & being mindful of Indigenous traditions

PO6. Demonstrate knowledge of diverse psychological tools of assessment

PO7. Adopt values that contribute to community building at local & global levels

PO8. Develop Analytical skills and Research orientation in Psychology

Programme Specific Outcomes

PSO1. Knowledge & Application: Students would be able to develop insight into one’s own and others’ behavior and mental processes and apply effective strategies for self-management and self-improvement.

PSO2. Understand & Respond: Students will be acquainted with recognizing, understanding, and respecting the complexity of human behavior and interactions.

PSO3. Communication & Presentation Skills: The program exposes students to diverse opinions and grooms them to communicate their ideas effectively in written and oral form, particularly through research report writing as an integral component of the curriculum.

PSO4. Theory & Ethical Practices: Students would be equipped with both theoretical as well as practical & ethical knowledge about the field of psychology.

PSO5. Research Orientation: This enables the students to develop a basic understanding of research and formulate research based on contemporary relevance.
