Introduction:
Dr. Virendra Kumar specializes in studying exclusion, discrimination, and intergroup conflict. His research examines the sociological mechanisms underlying exclusionary behaviours and the impact of social identities on perceptions of inclusion and belonging. He is particularly interested in developing interventions to promote inclusivity and reduce prejudice in diverse social contexts. His interests further include the intersection of globalization, migration, and identity politics. He explores how economic, social, and political forces shape individual and collective identities in diverse cultural contexts. His recent work examines the experiences of Marginalised youths in the Indian Higher Education system, and the impact of it on social inequality and their mobility shapes their collective aspirations.
Dr. Kumar is actively involved in service to the academic community and society. He frequently volunteers his time to organizations dedicated to promoting social justice and equity/equality. He also mentors students and early-career researchers, providing guidance and support to foster the next generation of scholars committed to addressing issues of exclusion and inequality.
He brings a wealth of expertise in studying exclusion and intergroup relations. His research, consultancy work, and commitment to social justice make him a valuable resource for organizations seeking to create more inclusive and equitable environments/societies.
