Introduction:
Dr. Anitha Arvind is an Associate Professor and HoD of Optometry, School of Healthcare & Allied Sciences, G D Goenka University since June 2023. Dr. Anitha Arvind is a distinguished optometry professional with over 22 years of academic and clinical experience. She completed her optometry degree at the renowned Elite School of Optometry in 1998, and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Clinical Optometry (with a Gold Medal) from Amity University. She later obtained her PhD from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa.
Dr. Arvind is the Co-Founder and Director of Academics at ‘Learn Beyond Vision’, an innovative platform dedicated to advancing the skills and knowledge of eye care professionals. In India, she also serves as a senior co-educator for RoseK lenses and leads the Advanced Contact Lens Course (ACLC), organizing workshops and hands-on training sessions for optometrists nationwide.
She played a key role in establishing the Lotus College of Optometry in Mumbai and the School of Optometry in Gwalior.
With a wealth of experience in teaching core optometry subjects, particularly in dispensing optics and contact lenses, Dr. Arvind has made significant contributions to the field. She holds multiple prestigious fellowships, including those from the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) College UK, the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE), the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA), and the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO-India) in vision therapy.
Dr. Arvind has presented numerous papers at both national and international conferences, showcasing her commitment to optometry education. She has taught for more than 20 years at various optometry schools across India and has an impressive research portfolio, including several publications in esteemed international journals. Additionally, she holds five patents in her name.

- Awarded the best presentation for a technical session in Ideathon 2.2 on the theme “Inspiring Innovation and Sustainability” at G D Goenka University, held on 15th and 16th April 2024.
- Awarded Best Paper at the 12th Annual Conference of VISION2020 held in Pune between 4th & 5th June 2016.
- Gold Medalist in M.Optom from Amity University and Institute Topper for the year 2014.
- Best Paper and Poster Award at the 36th AIOC held in Agra between 6th-8th September 2014.
- Awarded a travel grant from the Asia Pacific Council of Optometry to present a paper at the 19th APOC held in Seoul, South Korea, between 2nd-4th October 2013.
- Awarded the Young Leaders Program (YLP) Fellowship by India Vision Institute for the year 2014-15.
- Represented the winning team at the All-India Optometry Quiz Competition held by Bausch & Lomb at the 29th All India Optometry Conference held in Pune.
- Awarded the Shri Vaidya Subramania Iyer Memorial Prize for best performance in the examination on contact lenses in 1998.
