The School of Fashion & Design organized a field visit for the fashion students to “The Stock Market” on 24th March, 2017 at the Lalit hotel, New Delhi. ‘The Stock Market” is a pop up held in Delhi and now Mumbai. It is a funretail initiative showcasing an eclectic mix of women’s andmen’s designer wear to a large audience.A platform offering fashion at discounted prices from previous seasons this edition of the market had participation from various renowned Indian designers like Rohit Bal, Anju Modi, Tarun Tahiliani, Kavita Bhartia, AM:PM, Vikram Phadnis, Shantanu & Nikhil, Pankaj & Nidhi, Rana Gill among many others. The students got the opportunity to explore various aspects of the fashion industry. They learned about conceptualization. There were some interesting concepts like mughal, bohemian and contemporary. It was enlightening for the students to understand the different kinds of finishes, variation in the use of textiles, embroideries, silhouettes ,colors, techniques and how the ideologies of different designers reflected in their works going to the extent of personalizing their stationary and packaging.
