On February 13, 2025, students from the Forensic Science program at GD Goenka University (GDGU) had the incredible opportunity to visit the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT) Department at AIIMS, New Delhi. This visit provided an immersive learning experience, allowing them to observe forensic medical procedures firsthand.
Students witnessed a live autopsy conducted by Dr. Sajjan Gupta, who meticulously explained the post-mortem examination process, various techniques used to determine cause of death, and the role of forensic pathology in criminal investigations. They also explored virtual autopsy, an advanced, non-invasive technique transforming forensic science. Dr. Gupta detailed the collection and preservation of viscera for toxicological analysis and demonstrated how forensic experts analyze evidence and reconstruct crime scenes through real-life case studies.
This visit strengthened students' practical knowledge, bridging the gap between theory and real-world forensic applications. It highlighted the precision and attention to detail required in forensic pathology and the critical role forensic science plays in the justice system.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. AK Jaiswal, Scientist at AIIMS, for facilitating this invaluable educational experience. His support and guidance inspired students to explore new frontiers in forensic medicine and toxicology.
This visit reflects GD Goenka University’s commitment to experiential learning, equipping students with cutting-edge forensic knowledge and hands-on expertise.
