Program Description

M.Sc. Microbiology provides you with comprehensive understanding of fundamentals of microbiology for sound and solid base in the basic and applied areas of life sciences. The programme equips the students with ability to apply research methodology to address the scientific challenges in agricultural, medicinal, environmental, industrial and food and dairy microbiology. Students develop a commitment to excel in their profession with social awareness and responsibility.

Programme Outcomes

PO1. Scientific Knowledge: To select, interpret, critically analyze and integrate information from a wide range of sources that include books, scientific reports, journals, case studies and other sources on the internet.

PO2. Problem analysis: To identify, formulate, and analyze complex scientific problems reaching substantiated conclusions using the principles of sciences

PO3. Design/Development of Solutions: To understand the impact of scientific approach based mainly on Mathematics in societal and environmental contexts and facilitate sustainable development considering health, safety, legal and cultural issues.

PO4. Conduct Investigations: To conduct investigations of scientific problems using research-based knowledge and research methods in analysis and interpretation of data.

PO5. Modern tool usage: To create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources and IT tools including prediction and modeling of scientific activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6. The Science Graduate & Society: To apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional scientific practices.

PO7. Environment and Sustainability: To understand the impact of the scientific approach in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO8. Ethics: To apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of the scientific practice
