Program Description

M.Sc in Forensic Science is a postgraduate degree program designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in the field of forensic science. Forensic science encompasses various scientific disciplines applied to legal issues and criminal investigations. This programme typically covers a wide range of subjects, including:Forensic Biology, DNA analysis, serology (blood and bodily fluids), forensic botany, entomology (insects), forensic anthropology (identification of human remains), forensic chemistry, drug identification, toxicology (poison analysis), arson investigation, trace evidence analysis (such as fibers, paint, and glass), Forensic Physics, forensic ballistics (study of firearms and ammunition), accident reconstructionand forensic engineering (failure analysis), Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), Forensic Psychology, Forensic medicine and various fields of forensic Science.

The purpose of the M.Sc. Forensic Science program is to provide advanced education and training to students in the field of forensic science. This program engages in both theoretical study and practical laboratory work, gaining expertise in the latest forensic techniques, technologies and methodologies. They learn how to analyse complex forensic evidence, interpret findings, and present conclusions in a court of law.

The Practical aspects of this course training for crime scene investigation techniques, evidence handling and packaging, maintaining chain of custody and analysis in toxicology, biology, and chemistry. Students utilize the forensic equipment to examine the forensic samples and evidence, aiding in solving crimes.

In Future, students will apply their laboratory skills to meet the career demands in the field of forensic science and will be competent enough to work with various research and development organizations.
