Program Description

The 2 years full time post graduate Programme has been designed to focus on developing a strong public health structure in India and countries with similar conditions. Students will be trained to enhance the efficiency & effectiveness of the government's plans & policies related to health care at primary and secondary levels. It will also help to gather data, interpret and make recommendations to various agencies for planning and allocating the resources.

Programme Outcomes:

The course aims to offer comprehensive, individualized training to prepare students to deliver quality public health service. By the end of the course, students should be able to accomplish the following:

PO1: Apply the knowledge and techniques of public health domain to support the comprehensive professional growth of individuals, spanning from maintaining wellness and preventing health and community health promotion.

PO2: Apply advanced proficiency in planning Public health interventions, including the ability to formulate comprehensive and individualized treatment plans, integrate evidence-based practice into planning, and adapt plans based on ongoing assessment and patient/client feedback.

PO3: Able to do critical analysis & identify the gaps to solve the problems by applying evidence-based decision in the context of public health practices.

PO4: Demonstrate advance research proficiency by designing and conducting high-quality research that meet the specified needs for public health & safety.

PO5: Demonstrate leadership qualities for effectively manage and lead teams in diverse preventive healthcare delivery settings.

PO6: Develop a strong professional identity as public health professional by respecting patient autonomy, cultural diversity, holistic care and by taking consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional public health care.

PO7: Communicate effectively with patients, families, communities and healthcare professionals using appropriate verbal, nonverbal, and written communication strategies to facilitate optimal patient care and interprofessional collaboration.

PO8: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional practice and responsibilities of public health care practices including the demonstration of integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.

PO9: Able to create, select & apply modern tools and techniques of medical engineering including prediction and modelling to complex public health activities for optimal social outcomes.

PO10: Understand the impact of interconnectedness and importance in reducing ecological footprints and need for sustainable development.

PO11: Understand the need of lifelong learning to enhance skills and practice in context of scientific changes in public health sciences for providing optimal preventive care to the community.

Program Specific Outcome

PSO1: Graduates will acquire advance knowledge of epidemiology, biostatics and behavioural science in public health to develop customized preventive plans, implementing evidence- based solutions across a variety of community settings.

PSO2: Graduates will be able to design, implement, and evaluate community-based programs aimed at promoting health, preventing diseases, and enhancing the quality of life for diverse populations.

PSO3: Graduates will able to do independent research, upgrading to latest designing process and higher education in public healthcare.

Career Avenues

Program : Master in Public Health (MPH): The program opens endless avenues in the field of practice, employment, research and consultancy in both National and International Arena. Some of the jobs profile in different sectors are:

Healthcare Administrators: Graduates can become Healthcare administrators who oversee the daily operations of a hospital, research lab, physician practice, or other healthcare facilities. They develop organizational goals, manage the facility’s budget and finances, and work to ensure patients are receiving quality, efficient care.

Academics: Students can start their career as Teachers in Public health institutions.Students can also study further to increase their qualifications for better job opportunities and to become academicians. Ph.D. can be pursued after the MPH Program.Students can start their career as Teachers in Public health institutions.

Epidemiologists:Graduates can work as an Epidemiologist who studies the patterns of disease and aim to improve public health outcomes by publishing research, establishing community education programs, or developing new health policies. They collect, analyze, and communicate data to health practitioners, policymakers, and the public, and work to prevent future outbreaks.

Social and Community Service Managers: Graduates can work as a social and community manager.These managers supervise social service programs and community outreach organizations, such as substance abuse clinics, homeless shelters, and mental health facilities. They often oversee budgets, write grant and funding proposals, recruit and train volunteers, and plan initiatives to increase awareness and support of their programs.

Health Counselors: Graduates can work as health counselors. These counselors advise patients who suffer from alcoholism, mental health issues, drug addiction, eating disorders, or other behavioral problems. They evaluate patients’ health, recommend treatment programs, and refer clients to other services, such as job placement organizations and support groups.

Entry Requirements: Candidates who have completed graduation are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to those candidates who have completed MBBS / BDS /AYUSH / B.Sc. (Nursing) / B. Pharm/ B.PTor equivalent degree in sciences from UGC approved university.in addition candidates will also have to successfully complete a Goenka Aptitude Test for Admission (GATA) and appear for a personal interview.

Pharm/ B.PTor equivalent degree in sciences from UGC-approved university.in addition, candidates will also have to successfully complete a Goenka Aptitude Test for Admission (GATA) and appear for a personal interview.

Note: It is mandatory to submit a migration certificate obtained from the respective university where the candidate had passed his/her qualifying degree
