Program Description
School of Healthcare and Allied Sciences has initiated a 4-Year full-time Bachelor of Optometry. The training methodology provides integrated inputs which help to develop a high degree of conceptual skills, analytical skills and quality technical knowledge base among aspirants and prepares them for a bright future in the eye-care Industry.
The goal of this program is to prepare students to conduct thorough eye exams. It also equips them with the skills necessary to work as competent optometrists in tertiary eye care facilities, multispecialty health care hospitals, contact lens clinics, low vision clinics, and binocular vision and vision therapy clinics. Additionally, optometrists can work for numerous international vision care corporations.
During the course, students also get integrated into research program and have an opportunity to participate in various national-level community-based eye camps, eye screenings, clinical visits as well as industrial visits.

Program Specific Outcomes
PSO1. Graduates will attain a thorough understanding of optometry-specific subjects, including ocular pharmacology, ocular anatomy and physiology, ocular pathology, visual optics, ocular diseases, binocular vision, low vision, contact lenses, and optometric dispensing enabling them to deliver high-quality eye care services as competent optometrists.
PSO2. Graduates will be equipped to pursue diverse career paths in optometry, including clinical practice, academic research, vision science, public health, vision rehabilitation, contact lens fitting, and ocular disease management, or establish their own optometric practices.

Admission Requirement
Candidates seeking admission in Bachelor of Optometry Degree Programme:
Should have passed (with 45% marks) the Higher Secondary Examinations (10+2) (subjects including Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics- PCB/M) prescribed by the State/Central Examination Boards or any examination of any other recognized body.
For Lateral entry admission Minimum two - year diploma from a recognized institute. The candidates who possess the Diploma in Optometry awarded by the State Board of Technical Education, or its equivalent are eligible to apply
for Lateral entry admission to the third semester of BOPT.
