Professor (Dr.) Ram-Krishna Thakur, Dean, G D Goenka University, Haryana, was awarded the Green-Tech Asia Award for his significant contributions in the field(s) of Nano-technology and science education. The award was given by Shri G. Krishnan Reddy, the Honorable Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India at the MSMECCII Global Sustainability Conference (02 – 06, February 2020) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Professor Thakur’s research expertise include quantum computing, graphene, gravitational wave detector, and accelerator technology. He has made significant contributions in the field of nanotechnology. He has taken many initiatives such as designing skill based employable academic program structures with emphasis on nano-science and nano-technology. He has organized many international conferences, workshops, seminars, faculty development programs (FDPs), and student development programs (SDPs) and initiated a series of guest/expert/distinguished lectures that improved quality of higher education. He established practice schools, expanded the school connect program and 24*7 club activities, and established science, engineering, and technology awareness clubs. Currently, he is working as Founding Dean at School of Basic and Applied Sciences (SoBAS) and Professor of Physics at G D Goenka University, Sohna Road, Gurugram, India.
