No. But students are expected to dress in appropriate manner.

11What is the attendance requirement and when is the attendance calculated from?
A minimum of 75% attendance is required to appear in the examinations. Attendance of a student is calculated from the date of commencement of semester.
12How is hostel accommodation and food quality?
The hostel accommodation facility is available to the students based on availability. The university Accommodation Service will be able to assist you in getting hostel accommodation. The quality of food offered at student refectory is of excellent quality. Large variety of foods are offered by keeping in mind students food preferences.

Yes, there is a 24*7 dedicated health centre at GD Goenka University campus to handle day to day and emergency health issues with ambulance facility.
14Will I be able to work while I study?
This depends on whether your course is full or part-time. The special provision can be made in case of students placed during the course.

16What are the teaching-learning approaches used?
The entire program utilizes a combination of teaching and learning approaches which include lectures, practical classes, seminars, problem-based learning, group/individual assignments, and development of communication skills. Students are required to undertake research projects in the final year of the program. With this knowledge and skills, the students are able to work in their future effectively.
17Can you explain the grading system of your university?
We have Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) system for 1 year. It also includes Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) for every semester.
18Why the fees for basic sciences are so costly although it is not a professional course?
The infrastructure, study material, advanced and experiential learning platform is provided apart from conventional teaching. Extra attention is also given for preparing for competitive exams such as NET, GATE, etc.

Admission

1When can I apply for admission at GD Goenka University?
Students can apply anytime from month of January to August. As we have limited seats in each course, so we recommend applying as soon as possible.
2What is the procedure of admission in G D Goenka University?
G D Goenka University conducts “Entrance Exam named GATA (Goenka aptitude test for admission)” for admission. Once the “Entrance Exam” is cleared by the student after that he/she is called for interview and verification of academic documents with other essential documents like Domicile/SC or ST Category/Kashmiri Migrants etc. Percentage of the students in class 12th/Diploma is also taken care while giving Scholarships to the students taking admission in the university.

4Can I get admission on the basis of the entrance test alone?
Depending on the admission criteria, the admissions will be based on merit in the entrance test or marks in the qualifying examination. However, all candidates must fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements.
5How many application forms one can fill while applying to various programs at G D University?
An applicant can apply to as many programs in University as desired but cannot apply for the same program more than once in one admission year
6What system of education is followed at GD Goenka University?
University follows a semester system which is in conformity with the global practices and standards.
7When does the graduation program begin?
The program begins in late August. There is an orientation program during the week prior to the start of classes.
8What is the eligibility criteria to get admission in School of Basic and Applied Sciences?
For B.Sc programs, 60% or more aggregate in 10+2 in three Science subjects namely Physics, Chemistry and Maths/Biology along with English For M.Sc. programs, B.Sc.(H)/B.Sc.(General) with 60% marks in aggregate
9How to apply if the final semester certificates are not available?
In the case where the final semester certificates are not available, provisional certificates can be considered for admission.

Curriculum

1What is unique about the curriculum offered by GD Goenka University?
The course curriculum is interdisciplinary and is designed in consultation with industry experts. BOS is conducted from time to time. The curriculum is reviewed every year to ensure it is in step with the industry’s requirements coming up over the next few years.

A major part of sixth semester of B.Sc. (H) and 4th semester of M.Sc. is a research project. B.Sc. students can choose their mentors based on their research interest whereas Master’s students have to work in various research laboratories or industries. B.Sc. and M.Sc. students also get industrial experience after 4th Semester and 2nd semester respectively for six week in their summer break.

Yes, we study certain laws which Forensic people need to understand. Certain criminal and civil laws are studied. CrPc, IPC, IEA are studied.

The B.Sc. (H) Chemistry programme is designed to offer basic knowledge of Chemistry, its importance in everyday life and application in many areas. Master of Science (M.Sc.) in chemistry is designed to prepare students for a teaching/research career in academia or industry by introducing advanced areas and techniques applicable for the research area of chemistry.

After 12th standard, you can pursue B.Sc Microbiology. There are some other courses as well such as B.Sc. in Biotechnology, Immunology which contain Microbiology as one of the subjects.
