The students of Department of Biological Sciences participated in Anveshana 2020, Regional Level Science & Engineering Exhibition and Fair of Delhi-NCR. Following scrutiny of abstracts by eminent persons of science and technical domain, one team of GD Goenka University was selected for the final round of Anveshana 2020 that was held at National Bal Bhavan on 11 – 12 February 2020. Kanchan and Ekta of B.Sc. (H) Microbiology 2nd year showcased ‘Magic Fruit Cleaner’ under the guidance of Dr. Dikshi Gupta and Dr. Rangoli Goyal. Magic fruit cleaner is a natural alternative to the chemical cleaners. It is an organic solution produced by fermentation of natural products that are majorly collected as part of biodegradable waste from households. This illustrated to the school students who were mentored by the undergraduate students the concepts of reuse and recycle, and the significance of organic products. Each of the projects were set up in individual stalls and were evaluated by a jury panel of eminent scientists and academicians from reputed institutes and universities. Dr. Anindita Roy Chowdhury from the School coordinated this Programme in collaboration with Anveshana Coordinators. Overall, through this entire programme spanned over the last few months, the B.Sc. students not only developed their own technical skill but also served a social purpose by mentoring Govt. School students on their respective projects who presented them during the final round. The team was awarded with a special cash prize of 5000/- INR.
