Masters of Pharmacy in Pharmacognosy

Program Description

A Master's Degree in Pharmacognosy is a 2-year postgraduate programme that provide insights of medicine derived from natural sources and its effect on the human body. Students will acquire the knowledge of natural resources involving cultivation for the production of phytopharmaceuticals & nutraceuticals, design & development of herbal cosmetics, biosynthetic process, fingerprinting analysis and biotechnology including regulatory requirements. After acquiring the research skills, students can poses their career as research scientist in research & pharma industries, medical/ scientific writer, bulk drug chemist in herbal industries, professor, quality control and quality assurance analyst.

PO1. Apply the advance & recent knowledge acquired through experiential learning of pharmaceutical sciences to create newer technology and skills of drug development, clinical evaluation & regulation.

PO2. Able to plan the research methodologies, optimize the experimental techniques and resources to make evidence based recommendations.

PO3. Able to identify gaps in drug therapy and analyzing it critically for innovative drug development.

PO4. Develop the research capability to design patient specific and targeted drug therapy.

PO5. Demonstrate the skills to lead interdisciplinary team and collaborate to implement patient centred healthcare.

PO6. Applying the knowledge of ethical practices and human values as professional pharmacist in hospital, industrial or institutional setups.

PSO3. Graduate will indulge in higher research & education to develop new techniques of phytoconstituents extraction, production through cell culture techniques for economic viability and maintain the natural ecosystem.
